On the night of May 2nd, 2023, six-year-old Kingston Campbell was shot and killed in his own bedroom on Floyd Street in Lynchburg, Virginia, while several people fired into his family’s occupied home. His mother and siblings were inside and were not physically hurt. Investigators believe the house was very likely not the intended target.
More than three years later, no one has been arrested. In July 2026, newly filed search warrants laid out investigators’ theory in more detail: that the shooting was retaliation tied to the unsolved March 2023 killing of 16-year-old Terrion Marshall six weeks earlier, and that Kingston’s death may have been a case of mistaken aim. No suspect has been named publicly in either case, and no one has been charged.
This video covers the case as it stands today: the shooting itself, the citywide curfew Lynchburg enacted three weeks later, the connection investigators have drawn to Terrion Marshall’s death, the July 2026 press conference where the FBI and Lynchburg Police raised the combined reward to $40,000, and how to reach investigators directly if you know anything.
This case is unsolved. No person of interest is named in this video, and none should be inferred.
