A boy and his stepmother, stabbed in their own home. Twenty years later, no one has answered for it.
On July 24, 2006, ten-year-old Blake Dickus and his stepmother, Chynna, were found stabbed to death inside their Franklin, Indiana home. Twenty years later — despite tens of thousands of investigative hours, hundreds of leads, and a reward that just quadrupled to $100,000 — no one has ever been charged.
This is the story of the Dickus family murders: the strange T-shaped window-screen signature tied to a string of unsolved burglaries the same summer, the DNA evidence still being retested with modern forensic tools, and the Johnson County Prosecutor's direct, public appeal this September to the killer's own family and friends to finally come forward.
If you know anything about the deaths of Blake and Chynna Dickus — anything at all — the Franklin Police Department wants to hear from you.
