A 12-year-old was shot walking home with her own family. Four years later, there’s still no arrest.
On April 21, 2022, twelve-year-old Aliza Spencer was walking home on Bigelow Street in Binghamton, New York, with her father and older brother when a single gunshot struck her in the chest. She died at the hospital hours later. More than four years on, no one has been arrested and no suspect has ever been publicly named.
This is the story of what’s happened since — the Binghamton Police Department’s investigation, the New York State Police’s assistance, the FBI’s Albany Field Office joining the case in 2026, over 200 leads followed with no arrest, and a combined reward that now tops $100,000 for anyone who can finally give investigators the one piece of information they need.
Investigators have specifically asked residents near Bigelow Street to check any old doorbell or security camera footage from around 10pm on April 21, 2022 — even years later, an archived clip nobody thought to check could still matter.
If you have any information about what happened to Aliza Spencer, contact the FBI’s toll-free tip line: 1-800-CALL-FBI (1-800-225-5324), or the Binghamton Police Department’s Detective Bureau: (607) 772-7080. Tips can also be submitted anonymously online at tips.fbi.gov.
