A Dallas rapper was chased down a freeway and shot. Prosecutors say a rival rapper paid for it.
Just before noon on November 11, 2020, Dallas rapper MO3 — Melvin Noble, 28, best known for his 2018 single "Errybody" — was driving north on Interstate 35E through Oak Cliff when a black Chevrolet Camaro pulled alongside him. A masked man with a rifle got out. Noble ran south down the freeway on foot and was shot multiple times; an innocent bystander sitting in his own car was also hit and survived. Noble died at the hospital.
This video follows the case from the Dallas Police Department's release of the surveillance stills eight days later, to the December 9, 2020 arrest of 22-year-old Kewon Dontrell White, his 2022 federal sentence of 105 months for being a felon in possession of a firearm, the April 2021 murder charge against Devin Brown, and the March 2025 indictment of rapper Yella Beezy (Markies Conway) for capital murder while remuneration — the Texas term for murder-for-hire. It covers the pretrial fight over whether rap lyrics could be played to a jury, and the July 2026 ruling that excluded ten of Yella Beezy's songs but allowed "Keep It in the Streets," a redacted "On Ya Head," and MO3's "2 Nineteen."
Then the trial: Detective Eric Barnes's testimony that the Camaro sat outside the Oak Cliff apartment where Noble spent his last night for roughly 18 hours; the phone records; the surveillance video prosecutors said showed White burning clothes; Cedric Bradley's testimony that White bragged about "the work on the freeway"; the $40,000 cash withdrawal from Conway's account nine days after the killing; the defense's argument that the state never proved anyone paid White; and the verdict after about three hours of deliberation — guilty of capital murder, life without parole.
Markies Conway and Devin Brown have both pleaded not guilty. Neither has been tried, and both are presumed innocent.
